There’s another neat contrast. They both have this idea of “what’s below the surface”; beneath Rarity’s feminine exterior lies a surprisingly tough pony, and beneath Pipp’s larger-than-life public image lies a surprisingly vulnerable pony.

Over the course of several episodes, Rarity has to learn to stand firm with her vision and not let herself be manipulated by others.

Pipp kind of lets herself be manipulated by others, her journey is one of learning to gain a solid foundation for herself instead of letting others dictate what she should be.

the lesson of both is to be true to yourself.

It’s ironic how many millenial Luster Dawn jokes there were back then, only to actually have the epitome of a phone user in the form of Pipp.

It’s like Pipp was karma for all of us.

modern gryphons are more true to life because it turns out predatory birds and lions are kinda lacking in the brains department. a corvid domestic cat gryphon would be a different story

Dunno. Animal reminders are nice, but this is also the same universe where horses with not thumps and somehow human-like intelligence became the dominant species.
