Futa has long been used as a catch-all for “female appearance, with penis.” However, this doesn’t work in a more inclusive environment where gender identities are much more complex than that. It’s also a holdover from early-aughts porn definitions, which were often sloppy and inaccurate, and just intended to be easily-found to accommodate consumer fetishes. E621 has the “Gynomorph” and “Andromorph” tags, and a whole system around identifying the physical appearance of a character in an image.
As such, there’s also very little reason not use a range of tags specifying the gender of a character, when the entire purpose of a booru site is to accurately describe an image using tags for the purposes of searching/filtering. I propose that these changes are made, to imitate e621’s handling of this problem:
Futa - Alias’ed to “Intersex.” This is a general tag that still should not be used by itself, and should be accompanied by at least one of the following:
Gynomorph
Trans Female
Trans Female
- Both of these should also imply the “Female” tag.
Andromorph
Trans Male
Trans Male
- Both of these should also imply the “Male” tag.
Hermaphrodite
- Only to be used in cases of actual hermaphroditism, meaning BOTH full sets of male and female genitalia.
In the case of ambiguity, the OC Owner (if applicable) should have the absolute final say on what gender to tag the character. In the case of canon characters, then the artist has that authority.
